An Ad Hoc Committee was recently created to analyze if the NCSSSA should consider a change in the name of our organization, (such as changing the word
“Conference” to “Council”). The committee has been tasked with researching the impact of such a change and surveying our membership.
We are asking the NCSSSA membership for feedback and request that all members complete the survey. For your convenience, the

Request for NCSSSA Comments on 2014 Publication 963 Edits

In May 2014, NCSSSA was asked by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to review and provide comments on the latest revisions to the
Federal-State Reference Guide (IRS Pub. 963). President Rita Foltman asked the Legislative Committee to take the lead again this year on reviewing the
revised draft and providing feedback to the IRS and the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA). Pub. 963 is the only publication by the IRS that includes
the Social Security Administration and the states' input (the latter via NCSSSA).
The Legislative Committee completed its initial review of the proposed updates, which are summarized in the attached Word and PDF files. As we have done in
the past, the Committee wants the input of the entire NCSSSA membership before we finalize our suggestions and forward them to the IRS and SSA.
Please review our suggestions and let us know what other recommended edits and/or comments you would like us to provide to the IRS and SSA before the 2014
edition of the Guide is published this fall.
